FREE AMIGURUMI PATTERN: Star Wars Yoda

amigurumi yoda free pattern 1

PATRÓN EN ESPAÑOL

SCHEMA IN ITALIANO

Hello there!

Today I want to share with you a free amigurumi pattern of Yoda!

I created this crochet chibi version a few years ago, as a commission from a hard-die fan of the Star Wars character. I have recently revised it, improved it and written the pattern down in a (I hope) clear way, as it was more of general instructions than a true pattern.

I have crocheted Yoda with cotton wool and a 3.5 mm hook and it’s quite small, about 10’5 cm. Apart from the chubby little face, the coat adds a lot of cuteness as it’s detachable (you can use the same pattern for any amigurumi the same size!).

This amigurumi has some unusual shapes so I’ve taken a lot of pictures to guide you through the pattern. As Yoda says, «Always pass on what you have learned».

If you prefer an inexpensive, ad-free and downloadable PDF version of this pattern, with all the pictures an explanations, purchase it HERE. Thanks!

Get hook and yarns ready and let’s begin!

MATERIALS
– Yarn balls (sports weight): green, brown and beige
– A 3.5mm hook, or the most fitting hook for your yarn
– 1 pair of 8 mm safety eyes
– Stuffing
– For Yoda’s hair: I’ve used felting wool but some glued stuffing or cotton balls will do
– Tapestry needle, stitch marker and ball-point pins

ABBREVIATIONS
sc = single crochet
hdc = half double crochet
ss = slip stitch
inc = increase
dec = decrease
sts = stitches

Don’t stress too much about the shape of the tips! Yoda ears are recognizable anyway.

Sew the ears to the head aligned with the eyes, more or less in the middle of the head.

For this Yoda’s hair I’ve used felting wool, but sometimes I’ve just glued some stuffing to the head. Cotton balls probably work well, too.

Your Amigurumi Yoda is now finished! This pattern pairs with my amigurumi Princess Leia. You can find the premium pattern here.

  8. I have questions about the ears. Do you go around the starting chain when it says turn? When you slip stitch at the end, will it stop at the tip of the ear, then you wave in the ends back to where the staring tail is?

  25. Hello, I redid your cute yoda, but changing some details because I had a special request from a little girl. So I made a little bigger yoda with a bear hat. The end product is great fun
    Would you agree that I put the new explanations on my blog (in French) mentioning that the original idea comes from here?
    Thank you,
