Hello there! I hope you are safely at home waiting for this madness to end. 14 days has passed since quarantine was declared in all Italy and I have stayed at home at all times (except for disposing the garbage and going up and down the building stairs to do some exercise).
As more and more countries are on lock down I want to share with you the symbol of hope that has spreaded in all Italy and then has travelled to Spain, the third country to quarantine: the Rainbow.
With the motto «Andrà tutto bene» («Everything will be alright») hundreds of children – and adults too – have drawn rainbows and hang them in balconies and windows, and put them as profile pictures on social media, to show the world that we are fighting hard against this invisible enemy.
Here you have the crocheted version! It’s really easy and takes a small quantity of every color (something to consider as wool shops are closing down!).
You can purchase an inexprensive, ad-free and downloadable PDF version of this pattern. Please consider doing it as I will donate the money to ‘Regione Lombardia – Sostegno emergenza Coronavirus’, one of the most striken regions of the planet by this health emergency. You can purchase it HERE.
Get hook and yarns ready and let’s begin!

PATTERN
RAINBOW
We are crocheting in rows, not in spiral, so chain one and turn at the end of every row.

R2: Starting from second chain from hook, crochet 1 sc in every chain (24 sts)
R3: sc even (24 sts)

Complete the last stitch with the new color for best results. The tails of the different yarns must go on the same side.

I’m having trouble with the cloud. My stitches stay the correct amount up to the 18 stitches on row 6. In row 7 I understand the instructions to mean 6 single crochet, one increase, and to do this combination 6 times. That doesn’t work with 18 stitches available. Did I misunderstand something? In row 7 I only come up with 21 stitches total. Thank you.
